NCC and NSS
The college has units of National Cadet Corps and National Social Service scheme which are heated by professionally qualified personnel among the teachers. they take up programmesfrom time to time which are of social relevance particularly to the neighbouring people.

Student Union

The college Union, consisting of elected student members, is a representative body of all the students including the post graduate students. The election to the union is held every year. Principal is the ex-officio President of the union and all the sub-committees of this elected body are headed by the teachers. The union takes responsibility of publishing the Magazine, Common room activity, Socialevents etc. The college does not recognise any political grouping among the students.

Corollary Bodies
The college houses a centre for Indira Gandhi National Open University with more than 3500 enrolled students. There is a coaching centre that prepares the students of minority communities for Public Service Commission Examination.

Coaching Centre For Educationally Backward Minority Communities

A coaching centre for Educationally Backward Minority Communitieshas been set up at Maulana Azad College, Calcutta, under the sponsership of the university grant commission, New Delhi and with the approval and financial assistance of the U.G.C. duly cleared and confirmed by the Govt. of West Begal.The centre is functioning with efffect from December, 1991. It provides facility for coaching classes to the candidates belonging to Educationally Backward Minority Communities like Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhists, Anglo-Indians/Christians, Zoroastrians to enable them to compete in competitive examination for employment. At present, the centre offers
facility of coaching for these examinations:

I) W.B.C.S.(Executive),Clerkship and other examination held by P.S.C. West Bengal.
II) Joint Entrance Examination for West Bengal Medical & Engineering Colleges.
III) Recruitment Examination held by other bodies (e.g. Banking service Recruitment Board etc.
